Crickhowell is a small and community-minded market town in the Brecon Beacons National Park with a population of 2,100 and a vibrant town centre. The town centre is occupied almost exclusively by independent businesses and won the UK-wide Great British High Street Award in 2018. Crickhowell is also a major visitor destination in the region with an established visitor economy.
Working with the Smart Towns programme, local stakeholders identified the need for detailed local data to successfully plan and build for the future. In the Crickhowell Digital Place Plan, businesses and other stakeholder reported that there is little local and actionable data generated on the town centre and visitors.
