Caerphilly Town Centre – Community Led Traffic Monitoring

The Caerphilly 2035 Placemaking Plan is a comprehensive initiative focused on revitalising and enhancing Caerphilly town centre. By harnessing smart data, the project has embraced innovative tools like Telraam, a smart system that uses small sensors to count and classify road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and cars – to gather valuable footfall and traffic insights and support community-led traffic monitoring.

This affordable, community-supported solution now helps the town better understand how people move around Caerphilly, with local residents hosting the small devices in their windows.
