Welcome To Smart Towns' Website

A smart town is an urban area that uses different types of electronic methods and sensors to collect data. Insights gained from that data are used to manage assets, resources, and services efficiently; in return, that data is used to improve operations and future prosperity across the town.

The Welsh Government’s Smart Towns programme has been extended until 2025.

Over the course of the ‘Year of Smart Towns’ the programme delivered workshops to over 60 towns, produced 25 digital action plans and implemented pilot projects and case studies all over Wales.

The programme continues to support businesses, councils and communities in using digital technology and data to regenerate their high streets, in line with the Transforming Towns agenda.

This means helping businesses to use data to work smarter and not harder, and to identify opportunities for growth; using data to justify and inform investment, and to measure the success of any interventions.

This website provides a wealth of information on Smart Towns, in Wales and further afield.
